Xinshi Ancient Town is located in Deqing County, Zhejiang Province. It has a history of thousands of years and the history of its establishment has reached 1,200 years. For thousands of years, residents lived along the river and built bridges and cities, forming a typical southern style. Xinshi was an important commercial port along the Grand Canal in ancient times. Although the township has always enjoyed prosperity, it had retained a simple folk culture and had produced numerous talents, including the respected Taoism scholar from the Southern Dynasties, Lu Xiujing, the academic authority of modern Christianity and national theologian, Mr. Zhao Zichen, as well as young romance novelist Wang Jialun. The tranquil township also offers numerous cultural attractions including residences from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Juehai Temple and ancient bridges etc.
