The history of Lingtang Hui Minority Township stretches back to the Yuan Dynasty, when it was already well-known as a Hui minority settlement. Lingtang is home to Jiangsu Provinces’ largest population of the Hui minority and is designated as a Hui nationality village. The township has 6 villages, 2 community districts, an area of 53.9 km2 and a population of 23,000 residents. Hui minorities make up more than 30% of the total population and some of their forefathers had migrated along the Grand Canal and other waterways in ancient times. Lingtang is also home to eastern China’s largest mosque, Qingzhen Si, which is one of the cultural relic protection units of Jiangsu province, a National AA Tourist Attraction, as well as a key heritage site along the Maritime Silk Road in Yangzhou.
Lingtang Hui Minority Township is also an ecologically beautiful location, where one can enjoy a mild and pleasant climate, the four seasons, as well as breathtaking scenery along the lake. Lingtang has won acclaim as the first batch of national ecological towns and national wellness towns in Yangzhou, a national key town and national garden town, a state-level "Beautiful Village" pilot as well as a model township for the Yangtze River Delta's urban-rural integration project. It is a unique attraction and a beautiful water town that is the pride of Jiangsu’s province.
